LIZA ALLEN

La La Ceramica

CERAMICIST

I have been enjoying the art of working with clay for over 30 years, adapting my practice to fit around family and work commitments. Since moving to Wentworth Falls in the Blue Mountains in 2021, I have been able to devote more time to creating functional ware, table decorations and garden ceramic items alongside my whimsical bird sculptures, while continuing to explore new finishes, textures and forms.

My work blends hand-building and wheel-throwing techniques, allowing me to explore both practicality and playfulness in my pieces. I enjoy creating ceramics that are designed to be used and appreciated in everyday life—objects that bring a small moment of joy to the table, the home or the garden.

Inspired by the natural beauty of the Blue Mountains, my work often reflects a love of birds, organic shapes and the quiet rhythms of the natural world. Alongside functional ceramics, my sculptural birds bring a sense of personality and light-heartedness to my practice, celebrating the charm and character of the creatures that share our landscape.

Earthly Design Studios

With more than three decades of experience working with clay, I continue to experiment and refine my practice, creating one-of-a-kind pieces that balance craft, imagination and the pleasure of handmade objects. My work has been shown in local exhibitions and events including the Blue Mountains Pottery Fair and community exhibitions, reflecting my ongoing connection to the vibrant ceramics community of the region.
