Blue Mountains landscape and installation artist Natasha Daniloff talks to Wendy Chai and Brad Diedrich about her work practises and how she is dealing with the VOVID-19 lockdown.
Having a unique personal cultural history forms a significant part of Natasha Daniloff’s creative story. A Russian heritage which includes having lived in Iran with her family after escaping the communist regime before coming to Australia, has shaped Natasha’s work as a painter and mixed media artist. Her abundant output reveals her love for landscape work, but also her passionate belief in the arts as curative and formative soul work. Her message is crucial for all of us in the arts during this climate of devaluation. You can find out more about Natasha at natashadaniloff.com. As we say goodbye to the artists of our 'Beauty of the Beast' exhibition let's take another look at some of the short videos they created to give us an incite to their work and process. Here's painter COLETTE JONQUIERES with the first -'Tommy's Eyes'.

\COLETTE JONQUIERES – Painter

This video is about her friend Tommy and the goat painting that has his eyes.

Collette states about her work:

"Over the last nine months I’ve been working on a series of portrait paintings using goats as my subjects, but with a twist. The paintings are based on people I know.

Using the principals of human portraiture, I wanted to create a vocabulary of facial expression and features which seem to echo our own physical characteristics and personality traits. Ones that remind us of ourselves, where the viewer may find that the creatures they are looking at may be somewhat familiar to themselves.
As in the previous animal portraiture work, I have created knitted landscapes as the background, but in this instance, instead of using landscapes that surround me, I have where possible, created landscapes that the people I know live in, or have had a connection to in the past."
